• What is The American Board of Certified Haircolorists?

  • The American Board of Certified Hair Colorist is a board of professional peers. It was established in the 1980's as a way to create standardized criteria in,  credibility and consistent quality in the professional hair colorist.  The 3 part, 8 hours exam was designed to measure the competence of the applicant’s hair coloring skills and methods.

  • Colorists are tested on Practical, Written, & Interactive criteria and has a current average passing rate of only 30%-40%

  • Passing the ABCH exam is considered one of the highest accomplishments a hairdresser can acheive.

  • Why  is The ABCH Certification Important To You?

  • Having gone through 4 months of intense studying, 32 hours of a prep classes, and 8 hours of testing, I can honestly say I'm prepared for most any color scenario that may cross my path. I have armed myself with the knowledge and skill set so you have have the best possible color experience and results. I'm proud to say I know my stuff so you can confidently strut your stuff in your new hue.

  • I'm very proud of being named high scorer in the interactive (problem solving) portion of the exam. I look forward to using this certification to your advantage.

TESTIMONIALS

"Vanessa has been cutting my hair for several years. I wear a short pixie, which she cuts with a razor for precision. People always comment on how good of a haircut it is for weeks after the cut. I travel between the east and west coasts and try to save all of my haircuts for Vanessa because I love her technique. And, she is always wonderful to chat with." - Ana C
